SUDEP Action Day was launched as part of our Call for Openness Campaign.

Be a part of SUDEP Action Day – 23 October 2018

SUDEP Action Day is a special day which brings organisations and people together to raise awareness of SUDEP worldwide. Launched on 23 October 2014 (as SUDEP Awareness Day), it shines a light on the largest cause of death in people with epilepsy, helping empower people through increased awareness.

Because there are three epilepsy-related deaths a day in the UK alone – awareness is not enough, it’s time to take action!

#SUDEPActionDay2018          #WHY

This year's theme - #WHY

As leaders in SUDEP and epilepsy deaths for over 21 years, SUDEP Action know the topic of SUDEP raises a lot of questions. We’re here to help tackle them. Join us for SUDEP Action Day 2018 to shed light on the challenges and WHY questions that SUDEP raises, to see what answers are already out there, the action being taken to solve these questions and what more needs to be done.

On Tuesday 23 October 2018, we want YOUR help to raise these ‘why’ questions. These may be very different depending on where you are in the world.  Address your most commonly asked question about SUDEP, making it relevant to you/r audience:

  • Why don’t more people know about SUDEP?
  • Why is talking about SUDEP important?
  • Why should people with epilepsy and their clinicians know about SUDEP risks?
  • Why is your organization supporting SUDEP Action Day?
  • Why are you joining forces with SUDEP Action to tackle this issue?
  • Why have you taken part in projects/ research/ or created resources on SUDEP?

Take that question and use that as your talking point.

Our free resources can be shared to help spread this message and help tackle these #Why questions.
You can also show your support of the day with a SUDEP Action Day iron on T-shirt Transfer

As usual, we’ve created new resources to help your organisation take part in the day – these are available to download here.

There is also a new t-shirt transfer will be available this year to also help you show you’re getting involved in this worldwide event. (Don’t worry if you’ve already planned on using some resources with our old logo eg: T-shirts, banners – they can work alongside the new resources for this year.)
